Dear Majlis team, Thank you for this excellent brief summary of what the law on Muslim women’s maintenance rights actually is. It is this kind of information that is missing in the public, partly because ‘activists’ have been complaining about the bad treatment of Muslim women, when in fact even Islamic law itself contains very clear ethical and moral guidelines to the effect that a man cannot just push his wife onto the street if he gets tired of her. I have admired your work for a long time, keep it up.

The organisation holds space for debate and discussion. The kind of support that is provided to women and children is holistic. I think it is important to provide a non-judgemental space to victims where they can speak freely and Majlis does just that.
